Tips to stay Organized While Working from Home

I am giving you tips to stay organized while working from home as we know that working from home can be a blessing and a curse; some people thrive in it, and others cannot work in that environment. Staying organized when working from home will help you grow and get the job done in a timely manner.

  1. Keep a clutter free desk – Clutter is proven to create stress. Having a clean desk will make you work faster and harder. Knowing where everything on your desk is will save you time. Even if it is only a few seconds, it all adds up by the end of the day.
  2. Keep a Calendar – It is easy for things to get lost in translation when you are working from home and not in an office setting. Keeping a calendar will give you a better visual on what you have to get done during the week. Getting the job done when it needs to be is very important while working at home because your productivity shows – you need to take initiative.
  3. Fall into a Routine – Getting yourself into a routine will keep you and your mind organized. Wake up at the same time, make a check list for yourself, check emails, communicate with other team members. These are examples of things to do to start your day so you can meet your intended goals by the end of the work day.
  4. Work in an Environment in Which You are Comfortable – Work in a place where you know the location of everything. A setting where you feel comfortable is very important, whether it is a basement, living room, dining room, or your own room. Try to avoid places where there is a lot of activity or commotion because you don’t want to become discombobulated. Remove yourself from settings that have a TV.
  5. Make a Checklist – Every morning make a checklist of your objectives that you want to accomplish by the end of the day. Making a list will not only keep you on task but it will ensure that you do not forget even the smallest task.
  6. Take Breaks – When you are not busy, take a break. This helps keep your mind sharp. Walk around for a bit, or get up and do some jumping jacks. It may sound funny but this helps to keep you focused. You can stay physically fit, but it would be a waste if you did not keep your mind on top of its game.

It can still be a challenge to stay organized when you are working from home; however, these simple tips will keep you organized and productive during the work day. Don’t feel compelled to hit every single tip. Find out what works best for you and utilize them.
