Making the Fourth Quarter a Success

The fourth quarter is upon us and, now more than ever, you need to review your goals and calendar and plan out what you want to accomplish by the end of 2013.  While it may seem that every quarter comes and goes faster and faster, as a leader, it is important to keep your team calm, focused, and on target.  Here are a few tips on how to make this fourth quarter your best one yet.

  • Listen/talk to your customers.  Call your existing customers and clients and get a firm idea of their end of year needs are to end the year on a high note.  When you identify that, do what you can to achieve that goal and secure future business.f

  • Calendar.  Use a calendar to plot out all the things you need to accomplish by year end.  When you have a clear picture of what goals need to be complete, you can manage your time.

  • Evaluate.  Are there road blocks that are impacting the growth of your business?  Don’t wait until the start of the New Year to tackle any current problems.  As soon as an issue surfaces, develop an action plan for addressing the problem.

  • Prioritize.  There are a handful of items left on your to-do list before the year is finished.  Which ones are the most important?  What are the ones that will be most beneficial to your business?  Focus on completing those tasks before you worry about smaller and less significant details. Work with your team to establish action steps toward completion.

  • Make the final push.  From your list of critical items, there are a few “almost-completed” goals that need one last push.  Identify the most critical goals and make an all-out effort to finish just one.

It is overwhelming that the end of year comes much faster every year.  Doesn’t it seem that way?  With the right planning and prioritization, you will be on your way to successfully navigating the fourth quarter.
